Abstract
Antimicrobial resistance is a well-documented public health crisis that seriously threatens patient outcomes and national security. Further, the World Health Organization has recognized antimicrobial resistance as a threat to global stability [1]. The overuse and misuse of antimicrobial agents are key drivers of the development of resistance. Antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs) optimize patient outcomes while minimizing unintended consequences of antimicrobial use.
